Obesity, Asthma, Diabetes, Hypertension and Backpain 


In modern age , most of the children , youth are leading towards the common or sedentary lifestyle.  They don't have healthy eating habits and do not perform regular physical activities. Such lifestyle creates a number of diseases like obesity, asthma, diabetes, hypertension, heart diseases, cancer and back pain etc.  That is why such diseases are called common lifestyle diseases. Such lifestyle diseases is one of the primary cause of death before time. 

Obesity

Nowadays, obesity has become an enormous as well as fatal health problem. Obesity is that condition of the body in which the amount of fat increases at extreme level. The condition when an individual weighs 20 percent or more than the ideal weight.

  2. To play games and sports regularly 
  3. Weight training exercises
  4. Resistance exercises
  5. Yogic exercises 
  • Diet related prevention measures 
  1. Avoid fatty foods 
  2. Avoid junk and fast foods

  4. Don't eat frequently 
  5. Avoid rich carbohydrated food
  6. Don't skip meals 
  7. Take low calorie diet 
  8. Avoid alcohol, smoking  and drugs

The management of obesity consists mainly of dieting and physical exercise. The other means of management is medicines and surgery.

Asthma

Asthma is a disease of lungs in which the airways become blocked or narrowed causing breathing difficulty . It usually triggers coughing, wheezing or whistling and shortness of breath. Whereas for other persons it can be major problem that create hindrances in performing daily activities and usually leads to a life threatening asthma attack.

  1. Follow the asthma action plan 
  2. Avoiding triggers and allergens 
  3. Self- care 
  4. Get vaccinated for influenza and flu etc 
  5. Monitor breathing
  6. Identify and treat attacks early

Diabetes 

Diabetes is really a very dangerous disease. If diabetes is not controlled, it can lead to renal failure , loss of vision , amputation of limbs and cardiovascular diseases. Diabetes is such a disease that cause sugar to build up in our blood instead of being used by the cells in our bodies.

  3. Reduce the intake of saturated fat 
  4. Avoid rich carbohydrate food 
  5. Eat healthy foods

Hypertension 

Hypertension means the increased blood pressure. It has become a worldwide health problem because a great number of people are facing the problem of hypertension due to their faulty lifestyles.

  2. Exercise or sports activities 
  3. Reduce obesity 
  4. Take proper diet 
  5. Relieve stress

Back pain

The back pain which is felt in the back usually originates from the bones, joints , muscles and nerves etc.  It may be spontaneous or can be chronic. It can be constant, stay in one place or radiate to other parts such as arms, hips or legs . It may give a feeling of burning sensation.

Prevention and management of back pain
  1. Regular exercise 
  2. Maintain appropriate body weight 
  3. Proper sitting posture 
  4. Proper standing posture 
  5. Avoid lifting heavy weight 
  6. Use lumbar support belt 
  7. No smoking 
  8. Lying or sleeping on bed
  9. Refrain from strenuous activities 
  10. Move and lift the objects properly 

Management of back pain
  1. Heat therapy 
  2. Cold compression therapy 
  3. Massage 
  4. Medications 
  5. Physical exercises 
  6. Surgery 
  7. Other therapies
